At the end of February, the nation's attention was captured by a tragedy at sea: a boat carrying two NFL players and two former college football players went missing. All eyes turned toward the Gulf of Mexico as the Coast Guard spent days searching for Oakland Raiders linebacker Marquis Cooper, free-agent NFL defensive lineman Corey Smith, who played for the Detroit Lions last season, and former University of South Florida players William Bleakley and Nick Schuyler. Eventually, only Nick Schuyler was found, huddled on the hull of the overturned boat. Now, to memorialize his friends, whose bodies have never been recovered, Nick Schuyler has had a large cross with an anchor tattooed on his upper right arm. The tattoo includes the initials of each lost man, the date they died and a passage that reads: "In the hour of adversity, be not without hope."
